So I’ve been trying to stay in the US ever since I got here (legally!). And recently, I lost my last chance to get a work visa, because the selection process is based on a lottery (Yes, really. And don’t get me started). So I have to leave the country and relocate to car purgatory - Singapore.

I know its not common to list stuff here, but I’d rather deal with Oppos than people from Craigslist.

Its an automatic with 173k miles on it. I’m looking for $5k, but will accept any reasonable offer. I bought it few months ago and it was previously owned by someone who looked after it. I have a full set of records for the work done that includes:

New KYB GR2 Shocks

New BF Goodrich G-Force SC2 Tires

Cabin and Engine Air filters

Front and Rear Brake Pads

Front Upper and Lower Ball Joints

Front Upper Control Arm Bushings

Inner and Outer Tie Rods

Steering Rack Bushings

Front Lower Control Arms

Rear Axle Carrier Bushings

Rear Strut Rod Bushings

Recently installed stereo with Bluetooth and Nav.

The problems:

Seeps a little oil

A new hood was put in before I bought it and it was not perfectly installed

Has a whine because of aftermarket stereo

I took a turn a bit hard when I was driving spiritedly quite recently. The passenger side tires got rims got damaged.

Front rim was damaged and was found to wobble when the car was being aligned after the incident. But I’m told this is very fixable. A full sized spare tire is now on front right side. Also, I need to clean up some paint transfer from the front bumper.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Right rear rim with curb rash (right front wheel in trunk. full size spare being used)

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Front right side with paint transfer. UPDATE: it’s all clean :)

That looks like a solid IS as you can get with 170k. Always admired them, always wanted one since Tokyo Extreme Racer for dremcast (‘02)

Sorry you gotta go, I’ve known a couple friends to win that battle by the skin of their teeth i.e. the lottery. I can’t imagine them having to just pack up and gtfo.

We can still visit in Singapore, right? Will you get a sweet motorcycle as compensation?

Thank you for the kind words :)

I’ve wanted this car ever since I drove it in GTA IV. Its uncanny how it drives just like it does in the game. Quick, good low end torque, darty as fuck if you’re not careful, enough space for in-car-hooker-sex lol kidding

Moving does suck a crap ton. I had saved up for a used Cayman S/F-Type S Coupe but was waiting for the visa to pull the trigger. That’s why I bought the IS, while I waited. I’ll also be taking big a pay cut with my next job.

But I guess that’s life and I’ll try and make the best of it. And hopefully I’ll get to come back.

Hell yeah, all Oppos are welcome to visit!

Damn, the lottery is one stupid system. If you’ve got any money back home, you might want to consider this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-2_visa

Apparently you have to invest in the $100-150k region at a minimum - they don’t want poors getting in ;)

Then again, if you’re from Singapore, have you considered going to Australia? It’s much easier to get into, and doesn’t have many Americans living there...

Oh, thanks for the link!

Unfortunately, it doesn’t apply to me - because I’m from India :/

I have heard of the investor visa for people from India and China, because a friend of a friend did something like that. I think its a $500k investment for people from China.

But I could look into this after I have enough money :)

Australia is awesome :) I haven’t really considered any other countries. I just want to stay somewhere nice and settle because I’ve been moving for most my life. I thought I finally had settled, but I guess not...

For what it’s worth, last time I looked at Canada’s entry requirements, there was an entrepreneur visa available for people who could demonstrate that they’d run a business employing at least two people full-time for a couple of years. Can’t find it now, but I’ve seen similar with other countries too.

If you’ve still got family back in India, paying whatever the minimum wage is there to two people, even if they’re not doing anything, won’t be hard to set up or particularly expensive if you’re earning rich-country money - maybe $5k a year or so.

There’s always a loophole somewhere if you get creative. If you can get a visa to go and work in, say, Poland, or Romania, or something, then get citizenship there, you can live and work anywhere in the EU - and I haven’t checked, but I bet their entry requirements are a lot lower than the UK’s or Germany’s...

Don’t need to, IS300s come with the 2JZ-GE. Swap the needed 2JZ-G T E parts and you have a twin-turbo IS300.

Yea. Cars are taxed into oblivion. A new prius will set you back like US$90k lol

It always interests me to hear what cars cost in other countries. Apparently some British buyers are willing to settle for LHD just to save money.

And we all hope you get back here. Our immigration laws are silly. I once received a marriage proposal for similar reasons.

yeap pretty much but when u want to mount a manual in it say hello for the same price as $5,000... I know the tranny goes for around $3000-$5000 plus dont forget about the clutch parts and modding needed to be done to the firewall, ALSO I heard new ECU is needed. I’ve asked on the forums everyone says ur better off looking for a manual one which is hard to find and about $10,000 up which i dont have that kind of money....
